Melanotan 1 is a synthetic, linear full agonist of the Melanocortin 1 Receptor (MC1R). It is a highly stabilized analog of natural Alpha-Melanocyte Stimulating Hormone. When bound to MC1R on the surface of melanocytes, MT-1 initiates a signaling pathway that triggers Eumelanogenesis—the production of dark brown/black protective skin pigments. MT-1 is strictly selective for skin pigmentation, offering a uniform, sunless tan that acts as a biological shield against ultraviolet radiation.
